Lakeland women's cagers welcome MSOE Wednesday night

Coming off a dramatic victory on Saturday, the Lakeland College women's basketball will attempt to take another step closer to .500 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference when it hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies improved to 6-12 overall and 6-8 in the NACC with a 70-67 win at Rockford on Saturday, as Rachel Stankevich (Fr.-Goodman, Wis.) banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer for the winning points. The basket saved a win for Lakeland after the Regents came back from a 21-point deficit to tie the game with seven seconds left. Bailey Grayvold (So.-Norway, Mich.) led the way with 20 points, Trista Barron (Jr.-Escanaba, Mich.) added 14 and Stankevich finished with seven points, eight rebounds and five steals. Maddy Doll (Fr.-Florence, Wis.) also recorded five blocked shots.

MSOE also comes in off a win after defeating Aurora 67-51 on the road on Saturday. Shaylan Reardon scored 20 points, Holly Denfeld scored 19 and Margaret Pugh added 13 as MSOE shot 45.8% from the field and won the rebounding battle 37-29.

The Raiders won the first meeting between the teams this season, scoring a 75-63 win just over a month ago in Milwaukee. Kayla Clark (So.-West Bend, Wis.) scored a career-high 18 for Lakeland in that game. The Muskies last defeated the Raiders a year ago, posting a 68-62 victory as Leah Eisner had 21 points and eight rebounds as Lakeland fought back from an 11-point second half deficit to win. The Muskies lead the all-time series with MSOE 48-6, though the teams have split their last six meetings.
