KOHLER – Lakeland University was competitive in almost every match but couldn't break through and was swept by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tuesday night in a women's tennis dual at Sports Core.

The Muskies lost all nine matches of the non-conference dual with the Pointers. Lakeland dropped to 2-4 overall this season, while UWSP is 2-1.

The Muskies came so close to a win at No. 5 singles. It was there that Calley Wesemann (Fr.-Watertown, Wis.) won the first set against Anna Dobbe in a tiebreaker but then lost the second set and dropped an extra-long third set, falling 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 12-10.

Wesemann and Abby Juozapaitis (Fr.-North Prairie, Wis.) also pushed their opponent at No. 2 doubles before falling 8-6 to Emily Kleist and Kaylee Roberts. Ellie Roe (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) and Emma Schad (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) also had a respectable showing against Abbey Johnson and Erin Lemmer before losing 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Lakeland is on the road this weekend when it faces Marian University in Fond du Lac at 10 a.m. and Edgewood College in Madison at 2 p.m.
