Ellie Roe (
Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) earned wins at singles and doubles, highlighting a pair of dual losses for the Lakeland University women's tennis team Saturday on the road in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.
The Muskies were defeated 7-2 by Marian University in a match in Fond du Lac, and the team then traveled to Madison where it was defeated by Edgewood College 8-1. Lakeland is now 2-6 overall and 2-3 in NACC matches.
Roe paired with
Calley Wesemann (
Fr.-Watertown, Wis.) for a win at No. 1 doubles against Marian (4-3 overall, 3-2 NACC), as the duo defeated Mackenzie Meyers and Celeste Degeneffe 8-5. Roe then scored the team's lone win against Edgewood, a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 victory over Sydney Verbauwhede at No. 1 singles.
Ann Schroeder (
Jr.-Lake Mills, Wis.) earned the other win for Lakeland, a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Marian's Meyers at No. 2 singles. The Muskies could not break through for any other victories, with their closest losses against Marian being Roe's 6-2, 6-3 loss to Meg Hartzell at No. 1 singles and
Carly Brault (
Sr.-Brillion, Wis.) falling 6-3, 6-2 to Kyrsten Bruce at No. 3 singles.
Edgewood won convincingly at most flights in the second dual of the day. Lakeland's narrowest loss came at No. 5 singles, where
Abby Juozapaitis (
Fr.-North Prairie, Wis.) was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Lydia Dean.
The Muskies are in action again Sunday when they host Lawrence University for a non-conference dual beginning at 11 a.m. at Sports Core in Kohler.
