APPLETON, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's and women's cross country teams finished with a number of season and personal bests at the Gene Davis Invitational hosted by Lawrence University at the Reid Golf Course Saturday.
All four runners on the men's team posted personal records, including three of the four knocking more than a minute off their previous best times. The women's team also featured all four of its runners coming home with season best times.
The Lakeland men were paced by
Noah Lutzke (
So.-Orfordville, Wis.), who came in 28th individually with a time of 28 minutes, 6.3 seconds on the eight-kilometer course. He bested his previous mark of 28:48.32 set just a week earlier.
Travis Eitel (
So.-Pine Island, Minn.) came in 69th individually with a time of 29:37.0, while
Rhett Botzet (
So.-Appleton, Wis.) placed 83rd with a time of 31:22.6, nearly 1:40 better than his previous best.
Sam Scharenbroch (
So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) also was 90th in the huge field with a time of 31:51.0.
The Muskies women's team was led by
Kayla Bruton (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.), who finished 43rd in the individual standings with a time of 26:43.0, more than two minutes better than her previous season best and the second-fastest time in the 6K in her career.
Nathalie Cairo (
Sr.-Kenosha, Wis.) finished four spots behind Bruton in 47th with a time of 26:58.0, also knocking more than a minute off her previous season low.
Emily Petersen (
Sr.-Menominee, Mich.) came in 80th with a time of 29:44.2, and
Mya Fettes (
Jr.-Johnsburg, Ill.) was three spots behind her with a time of 30:03.1, a full 1:23 better than her previous best of the season.
Lakeland will be on the same course this weekend when it competes in the Wisconsin Private College Championships Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
