Noah Lutzke (
So.-Orfordville, Wis.) knocked more than a minute off his previous season-best time to finish inside the top 10 and lead the Lakeland University men's and women's cross country teams at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday at Greenfield Park
Lutzke finished the eight-kilometer men's course in 28 minutes, 48.32 seconds to finish eighth individually of 58 competitors. He broke 30 minutes for the first time this season and posted the highest individual finish by a Lakeland runner this season.
Lutzke led a group of three to finish the men's race for the Muskies.
Travis Eitel (
So.-Pine Island, Minn.) joined Lutzke in significantly improving on his previous season best, finishing 22nd with a time of 30:48.63, nearly 55 seconds better than his previous best.
Rhett Botzet (
So.-Appleton, Wis.) also cut nearly 45 seconds off his previous best this fall, finishing 35th in 33:01.34.
The Muskies also showcased four finishers in the 6K women's race, led by
Nathalie Cairo (
Sr.-Kenosha, Wis.), who came in 24th in a field of 74 to finish. Cairo finished in 28:19.67, while
Kayla Bruton (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) came in five spots behind her in 29th in 28:55.46.
Emily Petersen (
Sr.-Menominee, Mich.) finished 40th and slashed over a minute off her previous best time this season, coming home in 29:58.89.
Mya Fettes (
Jr.-Johnsburg, Ill.) also finished 53rd with a time of 31:26.22.
Lakeland next Saturday will compete at the Gene Davis Invitational hosted by Lawrence University. The event at the Reid Golf Course in Appleton begins at 10:30 a.m.
