Noah Lutzke (
So.-Orfordville, Wis.) and
Nathalie Cairo (
Sr.-Kenosha, Wis.) paced the Lakeland University men's and women's cross country teams as they finished their seasons at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships Saturday.
Lutzke recorded the best overall finish by a Muskie in the men's race and Cairo was the top Lakeland finisher in the women's field on the campus course at Concordia University Wisconsin.
Lutzke came in 25th individually in the men's eight-kilometer race with a time of 28 minutes, 1.19 seconds. He was the leader as the Muskies finished ninth of ten teams in the field.
Kevon Holbrook (
Jr.-Bourbonnais, Ill.) finished just outside the top 40, coming in 41st with a clocking of 28:41.46.
Travis Eitel (
So.-Pine Island, Minn.) was Lakeland's No. 3 finisher, coming in 73rd with a time of 30:20.28.
Rhett Botzet (
So.-Appleton, Wis.) was 81st with a time of 31:43.16 and
Sam Scharenbroch (
So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) was five spots behind in 32:21.43.
Cairo saved her best finish this season for the final race. The senior set a season best in the 6K, placing 36th individually with a time of 26:22.57.
Kayla Bruton (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) was next for the Muskies, coming in 54th in 27:51.29.
Emily Petersen (
Sr.-Menominee, Mich.) was third for Lakeland and finished 78th in 29:46.49, and
Mya Fettes (
Jr.-Johnsburg, Ill.) was two spots behind with a clocking of 30:24.83. The Muskies finished four, coming up one runner short of a qualifying team score.
Milwaukee School of Engineering won the men's title with 40 points with St. Norbert College second with 53 points. St. Norbert won the women's title with 48 points, ahead of second-place Edgewood College (64).
