MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Diego Morales (So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) and Fulton Stroud (Fr.-Iron Mountain, Mich.) both won twice for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team as it competed at the Auggie Invite hosted by Augsburg (Minn.) University Saturday.

Morales rebounded from a loss in his first match at 285 pounds in the tourney's Gold bracket to win twice in the consolation bracket, including a 2-1 sudden victory defeat of teammate Farouk Shaaban (Jr.-Barrington, Ill). Morales also pinned Johnathan Gressett of Central (Iowa) College before his run ended in his next match by fall to Clayton Ours of Upper Iowa University.

Stroud competed in the Freshmen bracket and opened at 174 lbs. with a pin of Braden Gissal of Iowa Lakes Community College in 2 minutes, 26 seconds. He then rebounded from a loss in the semifinals to defeat Jacob Rystrom of Central College by technical fall, before losing to Garrett Kingery of Central 9-3 in the third-place match.

Other winners for Lakeland included Jesse Burg (So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) and Andrew Cain (Fr.-Munising, Mich.). Burg went 1-2 in the Gold class at 149 lbs., defeating Joe Penchi of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse by decision by an 18-11 score. Cain competed in the Freshman division at 125 lbs. and earned a pin of Gino Alberto of Central in 2:57.

The Muskies next will face Carthage College for a dual this Thursday at 7 p.m. in Kenosha.
