PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's wrestling team opened its season with a trio of champions at its home Muskie Scramble event held in the Wehr Center Fieldhouse Saturday.

Jesse Burg (So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.), Wyatt Raab (Jr.-Spalding, Mich.) and David Aragon (Sr.-West Allis, Wis.) all finished undefeated in their respective weight classes to lead the Muskies in their first event of the season. The trio finished a combined 12-0, with each winning four matches on the day.

Burg competed in the 149-pound A class and won three of his four matches by fall, including a 50-second defeat of Caiden Rentz of Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College in his opener. He then won a 16-2 major decision over Pedro Jimenez of Harper (Ill.) College in the first place match.

Raab won all four of his matches by pin in the 157B class, including a defeat of Devon Griffin of Ellsworth in just eight seconds. Aragon also pinned Elijah Matzke of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 6:38 in his second match and finished with a hard-earned 14-12 decision over Nick Comito of Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Lakeland also had a pair of second-place finishers, with Evan Haferkorn (So.-Norway, Mich.) and Jax Lipnitz (Fr.-St. Ignace, Mich.) both going 3-1 in their classes. Haferkorn lost a decision to Toren Vandenbush of MSOE in his opener at 165 lbs. but came back with three straight wins by fall. Lipnitz also scored three pins in the 184B class, with his only loss a major decision to Jon Schmidt of Harper College.

The Muskies compete next Saturday at the Augsburg University Invite in Minneapolis, Minn., with competition beginning at 9 a.m.
