KANSASVILLE, Wis. – Brandon Bloechel (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) shot a strong first round and posted the best individual finish for the Lakeland University men's golf team at the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Links that concluded Saturday.

Bloechel opened with a round of even-par 72 on Friday that put him inside the top 15 at the supersized event that included 44 teams and a total of 244 players. He finished with a round of 77 on Saturday to finish with a two-day total of 149. Bloechel tied for 58th place in the ultracompetitive field, tying 14 others for his position and finishing just four shots out of a top 20 finish.

The Muskies as a team finished with rounds of 317 and 325 for a total of 642. Lakeland finished 36th of 44 teams in the team standings, dropping back two spots after sitting in a tie for 34th after the first day.

Parker Braun (So.-Brillion, Wis.) was the Muskies' No. 2 finisher after a consistent weekend that included matching rounds of 80 to finish at 160. Carter Boehmer (Sr.-Horicon, Wis.) opened with a round of 79, one shot off his collegiate low round, and closed with an 84 for a total of 163.

Kaiden Dopp (So.-Wild Rose, Wis.) shot rounds of 89 and 84 for a total of 173, and Gabe Ascher (Jr.-Wautoma, Wis.) posted rounds of 86 and 89 to finish at 175. Tanner Schultz (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) played the first day and shot a score of 83.

Carthage College won the team championship with a score of 566, nine shots ahead of runners up Millikin (Ill.) University and Wheaton (Ill.) College. Tanner Angelstad of Carthage won medalist honors with a finish at seven-under par 137 including rounds of 69 and 68.

The Muskies will compete at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Fall Invitational Sept. 29-30, an event the Blue Devils host at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis.
