Caroline Gates (
Jr.-Natick, Mass.) moved up on the second day and led the Lakeland University women's golf team as it competed at the Marian University Invite which concluded Saturday.
Gates opened with a round of 118 and improved to a score of 103 on the second day. The transfer and former women's ice hockey player from Worcester State (Mass.) University competed in her first collegiate event and finished 39th individually with a two-day score of 221.

Penny Barta (
Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) were the lone two competing for the Muskies. Barta shot rounds of 137 and 128 for a total of 265 to finish 46th.
The event opened Friday at the Whispering Springs Golf Club on the par-72, 5,802-yard course. Saturday's play moved to Rolling Meadows Golf Course, playing on a par-72, 5,665-yard layout.
Lake Forest (Ill.) College won the team championship with a two-day team score of 671, 12 shots ahead of runner-up Marian. Yinan Lu of the host school Marian won medalist honors with a score of 156 including rounds of 77 and 79.
