PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Fulton Stroud (So.-Iron Mountain, Mich.) and Jacob Hillshafer (Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) both finished second in their classes for the top finishes for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team at its season-opening Muskie Scramble Saturday in the Wehr Center Fieldhouse.

Stroud was runner-up in the 174-pound A Division while Hillshafer came in second in the 141A division in his collegiate debut. The two paced the Muskies on their way to eight top-5 finishers at the event which included schools from ten different schools in the Midwest.

Stroud won a pair of decisions in his first two matches, including a tough 3-0 victory over Christian Gilbert of Carthage College in his opener. He then took down teammate Dillon Raab (Jr.-Spalding, Mich.) by fall in 3 minutes, 57 seconds before being defeated by Bryce McDonough of Luther (Iowa) by technical fall in the final.

Hillshafer finished 2-1 in his class, including a 15-7 major decision over Liam Anderson of Milwaukee School of Engineering in his second match. The freshman then was defeated by Mateo Ochoa of Luther by a 9-3 decision in the championship match.

Freshmen Caleb Hillshafer (West Bend, Wis.) and Breyson Kelley (Florence, Wis.) both added third-place showings in their classes in their debuts. Caleb Hillshafer rebounded from an 8-4 decision loss to Lane Anderson of MSOE in his opener in the 125A class to win three straight, capped by an 18-0 tech fall victory over Luis Lopez of Luther in the third-place match. Kelley won his first two matches in the 184A division before dropping his final two matches.
