PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Jesse Burg (Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) and Farouk Shaaban (Sr.-Barrington, Ill.) both notched top-four finishes for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invite held Saturday at MSOE's Kern Center.

Burg finished third at 157 pounds and Shaaban came in fourth at 285 lbs. for the two best individual showings for the Muskies at the event featuring 14 teams. The two led Lakeland to 42.5 points as a team to place 10th in the team standings.

Burg posted a strong 5-1 record for the day, including three straight wins to advance to the semifinals. He was defeated by eventual champion Cole Dummer of Augsburg (Minn.) University in the semis but came back to win  his final two matches, defeating Jovan Vukajlovic of Augsburg via a 7-2 decision and then earning an 8-1 decision over Maguire Hoeksema of Harper (Ill.) College in the third-place match.

Shaaban pinned Chris Gielow of Carthage College in his opening match before losing to eventual runner-up Jake Schmitt of MSOE in the quarterfinals. Shaaban bounced back to win a 13-2 major decision over Kei'Aviyahn Evans of Concordia University Wisconsin and then took a 6-4 decision over Camden Harms of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh to finish fourth in the heavyweight class.

Will Ohman (So.-Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Evan Haferkorn (Jr.-Norway, Mich.) and Breyson Kelley (Fr.-Florence, Wis.) also all added two wins each, including Ohman and Haferkorn both winning their first matches at 165 lbs. before losing their second and both adding one more victory each in finishing 2-2 for the day. Kelley also won his opener before falling in the quarterfinals at 184 lbs. to eventual champion Noah MacIlroy of Stevens (N.J.) Tech, before coming back with a pin of MSOE's Sean Wilwert and a narrow loss in his final consolation round match.

Lakeland is back home to host MSOE this Thursday for a dual starting at 6 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
