MANCHESTER, Ind. – Dillon Raab (So.-Spalding, Mich.) finished third in his class to pace a group of eight wrestlers posting top eight finishes as the Lakeland University men's wrestling team competed in the Mid-States Invitational.

The Muskies had a strong showing in finishing fourth of 13 teams competing at the event. Lakeland scored 81 points as a team while competing against a group of schools from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio that included three nationally ranked teams.

Raab finished 3-1 at 157 pounds, including a pin of Keagen Mabie of Manchester (Ind.) University in 2 minutes, 48 seconds in the quarter finals. He lost in the semifinals to Michael Petrella of Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University, the eventual champion and top-ranked in NCAA Division III in the class, but Raab came back for an 8-3 decision over Andrew Ross of Wabash (Ind.) College in the third-place match.

Evan Haferkorn (So.-Norway, Mich.) and Diego Morales (So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) both came in fourth in their respective classes, Haferkorn at 165 lbs. and Morales in the heavyweight division.

Haferkorn went 2-2 on the day, winning his first two matches by pin before a loss in the semifinals and then coming up short in a 10-3 decision won by Jovanni Greco of Ohio Northern University in the third-place match. Morales came in 3-2 at 285 lbs., winning his first three matches including a pin of Scotty Edwards of Muskingum (Ohio) University in 4:56 in the quarterfinals before a 2-1 loss to Angelo Camargo of Baldwin Wallace in the semifinals.

Jesse Burg (So.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) and Fulton Stroud (So.-Iron Mountain, Mich.) also both finished sixth in their classes and made long runs through the consolation bracket in their classes. Burg placed sixth at 149 lbs. with a 5-2 record after winning four straight matches in the consolation round, the last in the semis a 6-3 sudden victory win over Andrew Magness of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University. Stroud followed the same path, losing his second match but coming back to win four straight, the last a 3-2 decision over Brandon Burkhart of Baldwin Wallace.
