MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Evan Haferkorn (Jr.-Norway, Mich.) posted the top individual finish for the Lakeland University men's wrestling team at the Cliff Keen Mike Duroe Invitational Saturday hosted by Cornell College.

Haferkorn finished sixth at 165 pounds for the Muskies' best individual finish at the event featuring 17 teams on hand. He opened with two wins, including a 6-1 decision over Trey Kellow of Simpson (Iowa) College. After a loss in the quarterfinals and a win due to medical forfeit, he fell to Carter Martinson of Wartburg (Iowa) College in his fourth match and ended his day with a loss in the fifth place match to Michael Roberts of Westminster (Mo.) College.

Jesse Burg (Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) also posted a 3-2 record on the day at 157 lbs. He started his day off with a 4-1 overtime win over Alex Bumba of Loras (Iowa) College before a 4-1 decision loss to Karl Scranton of Coe (Iowa) College. Burg bounced back to win his next two matches, including a second period pin of Michaelangelo Scalera of Loras and a 13-2 major decision win over Gage Sweckard of Cornell. His day ended in a 6-1 sudden victory loss to Cornell (Iowa) College's Andrew Parrish.

Breyson Kelley (Fr.- Florence, Wis.) finishing the day with a 3-2 record at 184 lbs. After a fall in the first match of the day, Kelley bounced back to win three straight including a 42-second pin of Ryan Lexvold of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Kelley was then defeated in the consolation round championship match in a pin by Zach Weidler of Wartburg in 6:27.

Lakeland is back at home to host UW-Oshkosh this Thursday for a dual starting at 6 p.m.
