Sam Scharinger was a dominating linebacker who later served as an assistant coach for the Muskies football team. As a senior in 2004, Scharinger was a first-team all-conference and all-north region honoree and named conference outstanding linebacker. Nationally, Scharinger was third in Division III in tackles for loss and was named a third-team All-American. Scharinger helped lead the 2004 football team to a share of the conference title and was second-team all-conference as a junior.
